How it Works

What to Expect

After you have consulted with our highly experienced technicians to determine whether laser hair reduction is right for you, Dr. Mosher will meet with you to discuss your treatment program. Next, hair in the area to be treated is closely trimmed, and the skin is covered with a cool gel. The technician passes the wand slowly over the treated area, delivering the optical and radiofrequency energy.

Treating small areas such as the face, underarms, bikini area or lower abdomen takes just a few minutes; large areas such as the legs or back are typically treated in less than half an hour. You might even have time to perk up your skin with one of our skin rejuvenation treatments. Laser hair removal treatments involve minimal discomfort, which has been described as a snapping sensation, followed by brief redness. We finish by applying a soothing cream with sunscreen.

While treated areas may look mildly sunburned, you can continue your normal activities after hair removal, including shaving and waxing between treatments. To avoid skin darkening (hyperpigmentation), be sure to avoid exposing the treated areas to the sun between treatments.

Treatment Plan

Approximately 6 treatments are necessary for optimal hair reduction because only the actively growing hairs are affected during each treatment session. Resting or dormant follicles will not be destroyed until the follicles begin producing mature hair. Treatment intervals are usually spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart to improve efficiency and achieve lasting hair-growth reduction.
