About Dr. Sofie Schlagintweit

Dr. Sofie Schlagintweit was born and raised in the Fraser Valley. She received a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball for Arizona State University while pursuing her academics. She was the captain of the Canadian Junior National Team and competed for the Canadian Senior National Volleyball team until a shoulder injury side-lined her on the volleyball court. Upon no longer being able to compete, Sofie pivoted her focus towards achieving academic excellence with the goal of entering medical school. She graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of science, receiving multiple awards for academic achievement throughout her studies.

Sofie completed medical school at University of Toronto where she found her passion in plastic surgery through spending time at the Ross Tilley Burn Centre. She returned home to the University of British Columbia for her residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Sofie completed an aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction fellowship in Kelowna before being hired by Fraser Health’s Plastic Surgery Group.

Sofie is the daughter of Dr. Stefan Schlagintweit, a Plastic Surgeon practicing in Abbotsford for over 30 years. Sofie learned the demands associated with a plastic surgery practice early in her life, but also saw the beauty of a plastic surgery practice through fostering positive relationships and serving a community. She learned the importance of being down-to-earth, positive and approachable from her father.

Sofie holds privileges at Langley Memorial Hospital (primary site) and Abbotsford Regional Hospital (secondary site). Her office is associated with YES Medspa & Cosmetic Surgery Centre. She performs both publicly covered (MSP) and aesthetic surgery. For publicly funded procedure (MSP) with Dr. Sofie Schlagintweit, please call +1 (236) 702-1155.
