This plastic surgery procedure involves enhancing the breasts with breast implants or fat grafting. Breast augmentation can provide a variety of benefits, including:
Breast implants can also help early breast sagging, but typically a breast lift is performed, either alone or with breast augmentation, to address this concern.
The actual price of breast augmentation for metro Vancouver women varies with the choice of implants, the complexity of the surgery, and whether it will be combined with other procedures. You will be provided with a quote for your procedure as part of your consultation with Dr. Mosher. Patient financing is available to help most patients afford to pursue their desired improvements without delay. For the best possible surgical outcome, it’s important to consider a surgeon’s training, experience, and patient outcomes (before & after photos) above cost.

For women who desire fuller, shapelier breasts, Dr. Mosher performs breast augmentation surgery using either cohesive silicone gel or saline breast implants. There are numerous approaches to this procedure, and not all surgeons offer the full range of options. Dr. Mosher understands the importance of choosing the best implant type, implant pocket location, and incision placement and will help you to decide which breast augmentation options are the best choices for your appearance and your lifestyle.
Achieving natural-looking results and a rapid recovery are essential goals of our approach to breast augmentation surgery. Even more important is the careful assessment of your body shape, tissue characteristics and personal desires for breast enhancement. These features will determine the implant type and size that will optimize your results and minimize your risks of revisional breast surgeries during your lifetime.

During the consultation, Dr. Mosher uses his expertise to recommend the type and size of implants as well as the surgical techniques that will be best suited to achieve the aesthetic goals you describe.
Women considering breast augmentation, or those who already have breast implants, may have read or heard about Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). BIA-ALCL is a rare illness linked to certain implants and has been the subject of news coverage and discussion across traditional and social media.
Breast implant illness (BII), by contrast, is a term used to describe a range of systemic symptoms some women attribute to their breast implants. Dr. Mathew Mosher wants to ensure patients are fully informed about both the remote risk of BIA-ALCL and the current understanding of BII when considering breast augmentation.
Based on clinical information provided by The Aesthetic Society (formerly the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery or ASAPS), we’ve created the following resources to help answer common questions:
These pages are designed to provide clear, balanced information and support informed conversations between you and your surgeon. If you have questions or concerns about breast implants, Dr. Mosher and his team are always available to discuss your options and help you make confident, well-informed decisions.
Instead of using breast implants to enlarge the breasts, Dr. Moser can perform “natural breast augmentation” using fat grafting or fat transfer. This procedure involves harvesting unwanted fat from one area of the body using liposuction and transferring it to the breasts. Fat transfer is best for providing a modest size increase or improving the shape of the breasts with or without implants. Transferring large volumes of fat isn’t predictable, so patients who want a significant increase in the size of their breasts are typically not good candidates for breast fat grafting.
| CONSIDERATION | BREAST IMPLANTS | FAT TRANSFER |
| Size increase | 150 cc to over 450 cc | Less than 200 cc |
| Natural | No | Yes |
| Requires multiple surgeries | No | Possibly |
| Improves other areas | No | Yes, by removing fat from the thighs, abdomen, flanks, etc. |
Fat grafting is not a new technique for improving the contours of a patient’s face, breasts, or body. Dr. Mosher has been performing the natural breast augmentation procedure on selected patients for more than 20 years. Recent technique improvements, however, have resulted in more predictable and safer outcomes. Experience and technique are essential components of more successful and safer fat augmentation procedures.
Many women considering breast enhancement surgery wonder if they should get breast augmentation or a breast lift. In some cases, the answer is both. The right choice for you depends on the improvements you want to attain.
| IMPROVEMENT | BREAST AUGMENTATION | BREAST LIFT |
| Add volume | Yes | No |
| Correct sagging | Minimal | Moderate to significant |
| Reshape areolas | No | Yes |
| Improve symmetry | Balances breast size | Balances breast shape |
| Improve shape | Yes | Yes |
Stretched and damaged breast skin can compromise breast augmentation and breast lift results. One of the newest options to enhance your cosmetic breast surgery results is improving the strength and thickness of your breast skin with Morpheus8 treatments. This breakthrough technology can be used anywhere on the body to tone and rejuvenate skin qualities. Dr. Mosher may recommend this as an adjunct to your breast enhancement surgery.
We understand that you may have lots of questions when you are considering breast augmentation surgery. For more in-depth answers to a wide variety of questions, visit Dr. Mosher’s Breast Augmentation FAQs now.
Learn MoreWith a carefully developed surgical plan, it is safe to combine other procedures with breast augmentation. Many women have Dr. Mosher address multiple concerns at once by combining breast augmentation with one or more of the following options as part of a Mommy Makeover:
Some patients include nonsurgical treatments in their treatment plan such as laser skin rejuvenation or Morpheus8 microneedling.
Dr. Mosher performs breast augmentation as an outpatient general anesthetic procedure at our modern and fully accredited YES Surgery Centre, located on the same floor as our office. He has refined his techniques to shorten the duration of the procedure, reduce the risks of complications, and diminish the rates of revisional surgery over the life span of your breast implants.
He and his hand-selected team of professionals have completed more than 5,000 breast augmentation procedures with a less than 1% risk of early complications that would require more surgery or medical treatment. Our patients benefit from our proprietary Recipe for Recovery™, which reduces their post-operative pain and speeds their return to regular daily activities.
Breast augmentation is not a one-size-fits-all procedure. Dr. Mosher carefully considers several key factors when recommending implants and surgical techniques, ensuring your results look natural, feel comfortable, and align with your anatomy and aesthetic goals. During your consultation, he will explain how each of the following elements influences your personalized treatment plan:
To help patients visualize their options, Dr. Mosher offers VECTRA® 3-D imaging, allowing you to preview potential outcomes based on your unique anatomy. This advanced technology supports informed decision-making and helps ensure your breast augmentation plan is tailored to you.
Dr. Mosher uses careful surgical techniques and specialized instruments that minimize tissue trauma, resulting in less bruising and bleeding for a much more comfortable and rapid recovery. Our unique program for rapid recovery following breast augmentation allows many of our patients to go out for dinner in the evening following their surgery.
Every patient heals at her own pace, but the timeline below offers a general idea of what you can expect following breast augmentation.
Day of surgery:
Your breasts will sit high on the chest and feel tight and firm immediately after surgery. Mild to moderate swelling and bruising are common, and soreness may be more noticeable if implants are placed beneath the chest muscle. Initial discomfort is typically managed with oral medications. You’ll be encouraged to rest and sleep on your back with your upper body slightly elevated.
Days 2 to 5:
Most patients may shower within 24 hours. Swelling and soreness gradually begin to improve during this period. Many patients feel well enough to return to non-physical work within several days, provided their job does not involve lifting or strenuous activity.
Weeks 1 to 2:
During this phase, swelling and tightness continue to subside, and day-to-day comfort improves steadily. You’ll wear a snug-fitting sports bra or support bra to aid healing and provide proper support. Stretching exercises may be introduced as recommended, while bending, lifting, and activities that place tension on the incisions should still be avoided. Sleeping on your back with your upper body slightly elevated is typically advised throughout this period.
Weeks 2 to 6:
By this stage, most pain and soreness have significantly decreased. You can gradually resume many normal activities, though high-impact exercise and upper-body workouts should still be avoided. Continued use of a supportive bra is recommended, and strenuous exercise or weightlifting should be postponed for at least four weeks.
Week 6 and beyond:
Around 6 weeks after surgery, implants often begin to “drop and fluff,” taking on a softer, more natural appearance. While results continue to refine, most implants settle fully within about 3 months.
We offer proven, clinically-tested treatments that renew and refresh your appearance.
Learn MoreDr. Mosher minimizes post-op discomfort significantly through his refined surgical techniques that limit stretching and trauma to surrounding tissues. Many of his breast augmentation patients even feel up to going out for dinner the evening following their surgery because of our proprietary Recipe for Recovery™ protocol.
Yes, you will need to wear a special compression bra to support your breasts and minimize swelling for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
It takes about 2 to 3 months for the chest muscles, breast skin and tissues to relax, allowing the implants to drop and settle into their final placement and shape.
Breast augmentation is a safe procedure when the patient, plastic surgeon, and surgical facility are carefully chosen. One of Dr. Mosher’s most popular cosmetic surgery procedures, breast augmentation is a safe and effective means of balancing out your figure and enhancing your femininity.
Breast implants should not interfere with your ability to breastfeed. When performing the surgery, Dr. Mosher can account for your desire to breastfeed and optimize your chances for success. It’s important to tell him about your future goal during the consultation.
Your breasts will look noticeably larger right away, but it will take up to 3 months for the tissues to relax and for the breasts to “settle” into a more natural shape.
While today’s breast implants are more durable than ever, they aren’t made to last a lifetime. Most do last at least 10 years and don’t need to be replaced if there are no concerns or complications. Dr. Mosher can perform elective breast augmentation revision to exchange implants for a different size, fill material, or type.
Breast augmentation involves many decisions. Perhaps the most important of these is choosing a surgeon with the experience and ability to create the beautiful results you seek.
