Breast Implant Removal Before & After Case 72

40 year old woman who had saline filled implants positioned approximately 7 years previously. She had decided that she no longer wanted the added fullness and weight associated with her implants. She felt that she needed to cover up and was uncomfortable with her breast size.

During consultation her goals and expectations were reviewed. Although she had a very nice breast shape, her breast were larger and the implants were easily felt through her thin breast tissues. She understood that removing the implants would leave the breasts deflated and stretched. Her implants were removed and after a few months of adjustment she has been very pleased with her decision and results. Fortunately, her tissues were youthful enough to shrink and tighten after the implants were removed.

Dr. Mosher comments that having implants permanently stretches and thins the breast tissue. Very few patients request to have their implants removed but this is more common with women who choose larger implants when they are younger without carefully considering their own goals and preferences. Often a breast lift will be recommended at the time of removing breast implants.
